Remove Owner from Collaborators

I need to remove myself from the list of collaborators on some Box files that I am currently the owner of. When I go to the dropdown list of collaborators, I am not given the access to remove myself. Is there a way to remove myself from the collaborators list while still allowing the other collaborators to access the file. Additionally, after removing my access, will I be able to access the file if reinvited as a collaborator?

    Welcome to Box Community and glad to help! 

    You can transfer the folder ownership by following the instructions below. 

    To modify access level in a folder:

    • Locate the appropriate folder
    • Click the Collaboration Iconto the right of the folder name.
    • Alternatively, you can open More Options > More Actions and select Manage Collaborators.
    • Find the collaborator whose access level you would like to modify. You can search by name using the Filter Collaborators search box in the upper right.
    • If you are the owner of a folder, you can transfer folder ownership to a collaborator at any time. Simply follow the instructions above, and select Owner from the access level dropdown (this option is only visible to folder owners). The collaborator you designate will be the new "Owner" of the folder and your access level will be downgraded to "Editor". The contents of the folder will no longer count against your account's storage allowance.
