Versioning Too Much
AnsweredDocuments are getting a new version number even if we just view a document. Is there way to prevent the versioning from occurring if you are just downloading an excel file to view it, not make any edits? This is creating data inaccuracies and confusion amongst our team.

Hi Samantha,
Welcome to the Box Community!
This would be something our Product Support team would like to investigate with you and may require specific account information.
I've gone ahead and created a ticket for you so that an agent can work directly with you on looking into this.
Kindly check your email for details and updates.
Thank you for posting!

Hello Ann,
I'll be following this Q&A because my company has an account which gives us a limit of 51 versions, after which there is no tracking. I am forced to save the document to an archive folder and start over. This is especially problematic since half of the versions seem to be used up during the first session while creating a document. Simply saving the document to your server using the autosave feature should not create a new version number.
Also, I wonder if Box would consider a new designation for questions such as this which have not been actually answered, but are "in progress" instead. The status seems to indicate the problem has been solved.
Thanks for your consideration,
Dustin
