Cache not clearing in Box Drive
AnsweredMy computer keeps telling me there is no space available to save anything. I had our IT personnel login to assist. He moved everything out of the C drive to a temp folder in the D and everything looked good after moving it out and restarting Box. It is my understanding Box is supposed to keep this folder small automatically, but for some odd reason it grew too much. When I came back to the office next week the same problem appeared. According to Box instructions that folder should be very small and NOT grow that big ever. I have had to create a shortcut of the C folder to manually empty it but need to find out why this happening and make it stop. How can we prevent this from happening going forward?

Hi Shana,
Welcome to Box Community!
Can you please try to manually reset Box Drive to see if it will resolved the issue? Follow the steps below:
- Exit Box Drive (if it is running). If necessary, use Task Manager to end the Box.exe process.
- Ascertain whether any files exist in C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\unsyncedFiles. These are files that have not been uploaded to Box. If these files do exist, and if you want to keep them, copy them to any location outside of C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\ (such as your desktop). Proceeding with the steps below deletes these files.
- You may need to show hidden folders to see \AppData.
- Delete this folder: C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box.
- From RegEdit, delete the registry entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Box/Box to clear Box preferences.
- Restart the Box Drive and follow the prompt to log back in.
