Failed to execute script bfd_main
AnsweredDear box team,
since a few days ago, I failed to start box drive with the wrror:
Failed to execute script 'bfd_main' due to unhandled exception: DLL load failed while importing win32api: The specified module could not be found. I attach the picture of the error.
I am using Windows 10 Enterprise. I tried as other posters suggest to enable .NET Framework 3.5, as well as .NET Framework 4.8. I tried restarting, and reinstalling box drive with no success. Kindly please help!
Regards,
Dewi

Hi Dewi,
Welcome to Box Community and glad to assist!
Can you manually reset your Box Drive Application?
- Exit Box Drive (if it is running). If necessary, use Task Manager to end the Box.exe process.
- Ascertain whether any files exist in C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\unsyncedFiles. These are files that have not been uploaded to Box. If these files do exist, and if you want to keep them, copy them to any location outside of C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box\ (such as your desktop). Proceeding with the steps below deletes these files.
- You may need to show hidden folders to see \AppData.
- Delete this folder: C:\users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Box\Box.
- From RegEdit, delete the registry entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Box/Box to clear Box preferences.
- Restart the Box Drive and follow the prompt to log back in.
Hope it helps!

Hello Rona,
thank you for the reply. What I did is, I uninstalled Box Drive and I installed older Box Sync software. It seemed to work but the Box Sync client does not seem to sync every file.
So I uninstalled Box Sync and re installed Box Drive to test your suggestions, but the Box Drive works well again! Therefor I think by installing older Box Sync software, maybe the registry key is somehow fixed? Thank you nonetheless for your answer, if it happens again in the future, I will try your suggestion.
Regards,
Dewi
