Implement Retention Policy externally

Hi There,

We are working on a Record Management Box Integration where we would like to control the retention of the file.i.e. User should not be able to delete the file in Box once it is submitted into our application and our application will dispose the file.

We assume that the best way to achieve this is to set box retention policy with indefinite period so that the file will be maintained in trash, Is there any alternate way to prevent the user from deleting the file ?

Box CreateRetentionPolicyAssignment is allowing only to set the policy only at a folder level, Is there a way to set the policy only to a specific file ?

Is there a way to remove the retention policy on the file so that it can be deleted ?
