    Hi there,

Welcome to the Box Community and thanks for your post in the forum!

Version history and the number of file versions you can access depends on your account type.

More information can be found in this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697054-Accessing-Version-History

    Hope that helps!

    Best,

    France

The file replaced had been updated earlier today and was accidentally replaced this afternoon.

    Facing the same issue!

After I upgraded, this should have been accesible right?

I upgraded, and I still get this issue. And its a very important file, which will take me months to get back

    Please advise.

Hi I am having exactly the same issue as one posted by the Original poster.  Accidental over-write of my file and box.com fails to show previous versions even though it identifies that the current file is V2 !

I get the following errors :

    Version history

    Server error
File versions could not be retrieved.
No prior versions are available for this file.

I am a free user and I should be able to revert to the most recent version (1 pervious version available for free users as per https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697054-Accessing-Version-History%C2%A0 )

If the box app fails to show any versions, how can I revert to the previous version of my pdf file ?

Hi I have the exact same issue here. I can see label V2 beside many of my files but when I clicked on the V2 label the page says "server error, file versions could not be retrieved". None of the files have any previous version available. Is this a temporary server issue or this feature was never implemented?

    Thanks!

when i raised a support ticket, I was told that free accounts dont get access to previous versions ! I need to upgrade a as solution to this issue ... ! However, dropbox and other competitors do provide one previous version for free from what I recall... so box is an inferior product in the free tier

Shame on Box then. According to the support article shared by France up there, free user does get one older version... I am moving to dropbox now.

The wording in the link above is ambiguous, I've just argued this with support:

"The maximum number of prior file versions you can access corresponds to your Box account type:

    Personal Free - 1 Version"

This implies that a Free account can retrieve 1 previous version to me, but not so. "1 Version" means only the current apparently.

I've given up on Box.com anyway. Unfortunate trajectory of company policy and behavior abandoning users with free accounts.
