Limitations on # of files in a folder
Are there any limitations on # of files in a given folder without hindering the performance including searching, downloading, etc.? If yes, what are the suggested alternative options like folder structure with sub-folder structure, etc.? Assume we need to handle 1+ trillion files composite of many applicants files.

Hi Mohamed,
Welcome to the Box Community and thanks for your post in the forum!
There are no hard limits to the number of files one can have in a folder. We do however recommend the following:
- No single folder can contain more than 15,000 files. For the best performance, have at most 10,000 files in one folder.
More recommendations to keep your Box running at peak performance and for planning your folder structure can be found in these articles:
Thanks for your participation in the community!
Best,

Hi there,
Welcome to the Box Community!
You may experience slowness when managing and navigating to your folders. For admins, they may want to take a look at this article below or they may reach out to their Account Manager for strategic planning on your folder structure.
Thanks for your post and let us know how else we can help!

Hi France,
So after finding this post I started going folder-by-folder in my account to see if we had any folders with more than 15,000 files in it. Sure enough we do. We have had it this way for over 3.5 years. Why does Box not have some sort of alert or notification for admins to stay on top of things like this?
