Missing hundreds of files and folders

I am in urgent need of assistance.  I had recently logged into my account, and to my shock, I had noticed that we are missing hundreds of files and folders online.  I have not trashed, moved or manipulated any of these files, and require urgent assistance in troubleshooting WHY something like this could happen.
