Lost files after transferring ownership

The current owner of the file tried to transfer the file to me, and now neither one of us can see the file. 

Please help!

  How did the file got transferred? Please provide the method you've used to accomplish the file transfer.

  The file was transferred through box by selecting transfer ownership, by the old owner to me and to Josh Weeks, the admin on our account.
