Understanding Box Sync on Mac
Hi,
I am running Box Sync on an iMac running Catalina. I recently disabled a number of startup items and by accident disabled Box. I then noticed that I could access or find any of my Box folders using Finder. I opened the Box app and my Box folders reappeared.
I am now confused! I thought that Box Sync was syncing a local Box folder to the box cloud storage. This gave the assurance that I had both a local copy and if anything happened these files and folders were stored in the cloud.
But when I 'Get Info' on Box it says it is a volume not a folder.
Are my files and folders stored locally and if so where can I find them when the Box app isn't running?
I hope someone can clear up my confusion.

Hi there,
Welcome to the Box Community!
Box Sync is a productivity tool that allows you to mirror data stored on Box to your desktop.
It allows you navigate and modify content stored on the Box website through your computer’s native file browsing interface, without using a web browser. Content that syncs down to your computer are available for offline access, so yes they are available and stored locally. If you make changes to the synced files locally, these changes automatically sync back up to your Box account.
