Moving Folders
Hello!
I'm new to Box and am looking for some advice please. I have a user who is co-owner of a folder (but with no permissions for the parent folder). She needs to be able to move the folder she is co-owner of out of the parent folder and into a different folder. She is unable to do this currently.
In order to resolve this, does she have to be made co-owner/editor of the parent folder? Or is it to do with the permissions of the destination folder?
I understand the waterfall permissions but as she is co-owner of the folder she wants to move (although not of the parent folder it's in) should she not have permission to move it out of the parent folder? I'm tying myself up in knots here!
Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Lauren,
Welcome to the Box Community!
A Collaborator with Co-Owner or Editor permission can move only content contained in the folder they are collaborating on. For example, if a collaborator is invited to Folder A, which contains Folder B and File C, the collaborator can move only Folder B and File C, and cannot move the top-level item.
Basically, the user have to be added either as a Co-Owner or Editor on the Parent folder to be able to move out the subfolder. I also want to give you a heads up that moving out items from the parent folder will change the ownership of the subfolder and pop-up message will appear when this action is taken to notify the user of this changes.
I recommend checking out this article to learn more about Box permissions and actions each permissions are allowed to take on content:
