Music file properties no longer display track duration on the "details" tab
Box desktop sync used to display track lengths both when you'd cursor over the file as well as on the Detail tab in properties. My wife is an independent radio host and uses Box 95% for mp3 & wav music files. Since we switched over to Box drive, the track duration properties no longer display either of those ways.
She often needs to "time-out" show segments and used to be able to find duration-specific info just by cursoring over titles.
This now necessitates the extra step (and time) of opening tracks in one of the media players that she uses in order to find a track length that will work.
It doesn't matter whether I copy/paste downloaded music in to Box drive or use the Move To function; the properties do not migrate along with the track like they used to. Anyone have any ideas on a fix for this? Thanks!

Hi Allison,
Welcome to the Box Community!
Can I have you try "marking for offline" the folder in Box Drive where these audio files are and see if this allows you to see the file properties?
Check out this article on how to mark your folders for offline in Box Drive and let me know how it goes: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697574-Making-Content-Available-Offline

Hi France
Thanks for the response. I did try that, both marking the folder for offline as-is (with existing content in the folder) and it made no difference to the existing files in the folder. I also tried adding fresh files to the folder when the folder was already marked for offline, but neither way subsequently showed the audio file duration properties under the Properties / Details tab. All details, not only duration, go missing on the Details tab. Artist / Album / Bit Rate etc. Any information that was included in the original file properties does not display.
I tried both "Copy To" function and "Move To" function to see if it made any difference. Nogo.
We never had that problem with the previous desktop sync. All we had to do previously was cursor over an individual track in any given folder and the file size and duration displayed with no problem.

Hi Everyone,
I just want to give a quick update on this, it appears this is expected behavior for content-specific properties are normally absent from files in Box Drive.
That said, there is an existing feature suggestion in Box Pulse to make File properties available in Box Drive. You can find the suggestion in this post.
If you would like to support this idea, you can add in your vote Box Pulse. Our product managers review these requests and take them into consideration for future product development.
