Box Drive Moves instead of Copies files
Hi, I'm on Monterey OS 12.0.1 and I've noticed ever since upgrading to Monterey, whenever I drag and drop a file or folder onto my Box Drive or from Box Drive to my desktop, the file is moved and not copied. I have to remember to hold down the option key so that I still have the original file left on Box and I don't accidentally save over anything.
Is this something I have to get used now or is there a fix coming? Thanks

Hi Gregory,
Welcome to the Box Community!
Your observation is accurate and is now the expected behavior for Mac users running Box Drive on Monterey OS:
-
Items (files or folders) dragged and dropped from a user's local drive into Box are moved instead of copied. Similarly, items dragged and dropped from the Box folder to user’s local drive are moved instead of copied and hence deleted from Box.
For more noticeable changes on user experience when in FPE mode, please take a look at this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407737091219-Using-Box-Drive-on-macOS-File-Provider-Extension-FPE-mode

HI France
I was just googling this issue, as it is causing quite a lot of problems in our organisation. is there a way to disable the behaviour and go back to the old state where files are copied to and from Box?
Our issue is, that across our large organisation, someone will accidentally move a foler to their local harddrive from box, and thus removing it for everybody else. the user will think they made a copy, and suddenly the files are deleted. This is a massive problem as our data are no longer secure when we are using box drive.

I've always used it the way I would use an external drive. This has really thrown me for a loop and created problems for a few of us on the team. Since it's called Box "Drive," I expect it to continue behaving the same way an external drive would. You can't move files from drive to drive, so I shouldn't be able to move files from Box to my local drive.
