    Hi Amit,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help answer your questions regarding Box features on folder collaboration with external users.

Yes, you can certainly collaborate with external users who already have a their own account or are part of another organization regardless of the type account they have with Box (Personal, Business, or Enterprise). It depends on the type of account you have with Box if you are going to be paying for collaborating with the external user. If you have a Starter or Business account, seats refer to both internal and external users. Each user you invite into your folders is a collaborator you are paying for. While, if you have a Business Plus or Enterprise account, seats refer to internal users only and you have unlimited external collaborators.

There are settings in the 'Content and Sharing' tab in the Enterprise settings of the Admin console in which Admins can restrict External Collaboration, as long as those are not enabled or limited, you should be able to collaborate with another company. When you try to collaborate with a company who restricts external collaboration an error message will popup when you try adding their user to collaborate in a folder. For details, you can check out this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044194913-Content-and-sharing-settings-for-your-enterprise

Thanks for reaching out and please let us know if you have any questions on the above information.

    Best Regards,

    Hi France,

Thanks for your detail reply. I just want to confirm 1 point from your reply:

    >If you have a Starter or Business account, seats refer to both internal and external users. Each user you invite into your folders is a collaborator you are >paying for. While, if you have a Business Plus or Enterprise account, seats refer to internal users only and you have unlimited external collaborators.

    1. What is unlimited "external collaborators" means, does it mean we don't need to pay for account or external user must have box already before invite?

    Hi Amit,

    I'm happy to help!

Unlimited "external collaborators" means your account will no longer be charged for external users you will be collaborating with. If you invite them to collaborate, external users can have their own subscription to Box or can sign up as Free users (those who doesn't have a Box account yet).

Let me know if you have other questions and I will do my best to help you!

    Best,

    Hi France,

Thanks for reply. Our team has decided to use Enterprise plan. I have few more thing to confirm related to Box Shield for malware scan.

    1. After using this service, does it restrict end user to upload file if it contain malware or virus?

    2. Does it will stop auto download if malware detected in uploaded file?

    3. Is there any Email notification to Admin person when malware is detected in box storage. (Admin will know someone uploaded malware contained file without login to box admin page?

    4. Can I san malware or virus while auto download box file using API.

    5. Do I need to pay additional charge for  Box Shield even we use Enterprise.

    Waiting for your reply.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards
