    I checked your profile, and I see it is linked to a Personal Free Account. The message that you received when you tried to add your NYU email int your personal Box happens if an email domain is already claimed by a Box organization, this can be due to they want all users of their domain to be managed by their Box organization so you cannot use that email to link into your Personal Box account.

    If you need to use Box using this email address, you may need to reach out to NYU's internal help desk so they provision a new Box account for you that is managed by their organization.
