These steps did not work for me. I still get the "older version on top of newer version" error message when I try to start Box.

    What else could I try?

I'm with Rich (immediately above).  I am also experiencing this issue with the "older version of Box Drive on top of a newer version".  I did the clean uninstall (including executing the script in the terminal), then reinstalling per https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407737091219-Using-Box-Drive-on-macOS-File-Provider-Extension-FPE-mode.  The problem is not resolved; even did a couple of reboots.  Any suggestions are welcome!

Still not working!  This is the script that comes back after I try to a clean uninstall of Box Drive:

    /Library/Application\ Support/Box/uninstall_box_drive

    0

    /usr/bin/fileproviderctl

File provider com.box.desktop.boxfileprovider/Box not found. Available providers:

     - iCloud Drive (hidden)

    com.apple.CloudDocs.MobileDocumentsFileProvider

    ~/L{5}y/M{14}s

fileproviderctl: can't find domain for com.box.desktop.boxfileprovider/Box: (null)

No matching processes belonging to you were found

I'm having exactly the same issue with my Macbook M1Pro giving me the following message:

You installed an older version of Box Drive on top of a newer version.

Please install the latest version of Box Drive. If the problem persists, please contact Box Support to further troubleshoot the issue.

    Hi,

I am able to fixed the issue. If someone still having issue, this are the steps:

    1. Uninstall Box Drive

    2. Rename CloudStorage folder - /Users/username/Library/CloudStorage

    3. Re-install Box Drive and Box Tools

    4. No need to reboot. Open Box Drive. This will recreate a new folder and re-sync all your files/folder.
