Monitor a file that doesn't get updated

I was wondering if there was a way to monitor a file and get alerted if the file hasn't been updated in say 3 days or some sort of timeframe.

We have a process that starts with a file being updated on a nightly basis.    Every once in a while the file doesn't get updated for any number of non-Box related issues.

We run into issues where the file doesn't get updated and no one is aware the process is broken until we get downstream errors.
