Deleting Human Subjects Data
Hi! I store human subjects data in my Box account. I recently received a question from an IRB reviewer regarding a plan for discarding data after a specified amount of time. I described that the data would be stored in a web-based cloud storage account and that data will be deleted after x amount of years. I was told that simply deleting the data from Box was insufficient and that I would need to use a specific software and they mentioned something called Shredder. Are data permanently deleted or is it necessary to use additional software? If additional software is needed, how does that work exactly? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Box Community! I'm happy to help.Deleted files, by default, stay in your Trash for 30 days. We, User Services,have a way to recover it within 14 days after the files have been emptied from your Trash. Beyond this 14-day grace period, however, files or folders purged from your Box trash may not be recoverable and may be lost forever.You may also check this article from our Box Product Support page about " Managing Trash".Best,
