    Hi Sarah.

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

There are indeed some limitations on characters/ symbols when naming your folders and files in Box:

    • Box only supports file or folder names that are 255 characters or less. File names containing non-printable ascii, "/" or "\", names with leading or trailing spaces, and the special names “.” and “..” are also unsupported. Box supports only Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) characters in file and folder names.
    • The file or folder's path on Windows machines should be under the 255-character Windows limitation. Folder paths that exceed 255 characters may truncate the content's name before uploading to Box.

Let me know if you have other questions!

Thanks for your reply - appreciate it.

So having spaces in filenames should cause no issues nor ampersands (i.e. &)?

    Best

    Hi Sarah,

A space in between file names is fine as well as using ampersands.

Feel free to write back in if you have other questions, and I will do my best to help!

    All the best,

Is there a way to resolve the issue above? IE: creating new parent folder etc?
