Error uploading file
Hi,
I'm assisting one of our staff who reported the following error when attempting to upload a file from their local C: drive to a box folder in which they have Co-owner permission - "Oops! There's an error due to insufficient permissions."
The file attempting to be uploaded has the exact same name as a file already residing in the folder, so if I understand how the box upload feature works, the file should have become the latest version of the existing file and should not have produced an error. Ultimately, we were able to successfully upload the file by renaming it.
If another collaborator had the file open and locked for editing at the time of the upload, could that have caused the permission error? If so, I would think the error should reference that fact instead of displaying a confusing permissions error.
P.S. I did open a ticket with Box support who was unable to provide any insight as to what might cause this, so I'm reaching out here in hopes of an answer.
Thank you

Hi Hank,
Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!
As far as I know as long as the user has the necessary permission, they should be able to upload the file in Box in this situation. However, this can be further investigated with the help of our Support team and would require specific account information. I do see that you already have an open ticket for this issue thus I would highly recommend to please continue working with the team should you wish to further look into it.
Thanks for reaching out and let us know how else we can help!
All the Best,
