    Hi Alice,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

The information you are looking for can be found using Box Report feature: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696534-Running-Reports

Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise admins can monitor activity and view data about their Box accounts and the content owned by their accounts by generating reports in the Admin Console. Reports can be generated on-demand for any specified time period and these reports can go back as far as 7 years, or as long as you have an account tariff with reporting access.

I checked your profile for this post, and I see that you are using a Personal Free Box account. Unfortunately, the feature you are looking for to see who made changes on a specific file such as name of the file, is currently not available to your account type.

Thanks for reaching out and if you have questions, please let us know.

    All the Best,

    Hi Alice,

To answer your question, yes, if your customer owns the shared file and is part of a Business account, their Admin may run a "User Activity" report to determine who among the collaborators edited the file name.

With access to Box Report in the Admin console, the owner's Admin can run the following report:

    • Go to Admin Console > Reports > Create Report> User Activity
    • Filter it based on the following:
      • Users or Groups(optional): Please leave this blank.
      • Affected Files and Folders: The parent folder of the affected file
      • Start Date and End Date: Date range around the time when they noticed the changed in the file name
      • Action Types: Click File Management and then click the check box for "Renamed"
      • After that, click Run and wait for the report to become available.

The Report will be exported to the user's Admin's Box Reports folder when completed, they can filter that report once available to the name of the affected file to determine who made the changes.

To learn more about running a user activity report, please take a look at this article: User Activity

Hope that helps! If you have questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help you.

    Regards,
