Can folder owners be changed using the CLI

I am trying to find out how to transfer ownership of folders to a system user using the CLI. I have an additional complexity as these are top level folders and only the super user can own them. The process I am using manually is:

 

1. Impersonate the folder owner

2. Add boxadminuser to the folder as an editor

3. Elevate boxadminuser to be the owner of the folder

4. Go back to boxadminuser 

5. Add contentowner@company.com to the folder as an editor

6. Set contentowner@company.com to be the owner

7. Remove boxadminuser 

 

Is there a way to script this? I have a couple of hundred folders to update so it would be good to do this automatically.

  Does anyone have an answer to this? I am guessing it is not possible but it would be good to have a definite answer
