Files missing, PDF's won't open, Not in trash

Our organization's HR department uses Box. Today when they opened box. The PDF's they had stored would not open. "file is corrupted" or "Access Denied" error messages popped up. Then they disappeared completely upon refreshing the file. We went into Box online and none of the files were there. Let alone in the trash.
