    Hi

Welcome to the Box Community and thanks for your post!

Could you add more detail for your question? What specifically are you trying to accomplish, and how have you tried going about it so far?

That additional detail can really help the community figure this out for you!

    Hello ,

let me summarize what I've understood.

    - You are creating an application (a web one) where different users will be able to access.

    - This application will allow metadata information to be assigned to documents.

    - After some testing, you've realised that, if the user login to the application is a regular free account user, the metadata piece is not working.

    Am I right?

So... yeah, that's right. As explained here "Metadata is a feature reserved for Business Plus, Enterprise and Elite accounts. It is also available on developer accounts through https://developers.box.com. To upgrade your account, please contact your Box account team."

As an extra interesting piece of  information you can read this article: https://community.box.com/t5/How-To-Guides-for-Sharing/The-Different-Access-Levels-for-Collaborators/ta-p/144. It explains the role and metadata relationships.

    So...

    - if your application shows to the user its own folders from its own box instance won't have metadata capabilities.

    - if the user has access to documentation from a box instance that has metadata enabled, despite which type of account the user has, will be able to work with metadata.

    I hope it helps.

Thank you so much for your answer

But Now my question is how I enabled metadata permission or access stats in any account like an individual or any account?

    Good morning ,

as said, if I am not wrong, you can not enable it as it depends on the user level type of account.

So, if you want everybody to see metadata even when they use free box users, you will have to place documents in a folder owned by a Business Plus, Enterprise or Elite account.

    Exctracted from here https://community.box.com/t5/How-to-Guides-for-Managing/Metadata/ta-p/30765#toc-hId--905392976

How does metadata work with external collaborators within a folder?

Metadata is only available for external collaborators who collaborate in a folder where the folder owner has metadata enabled on their account.

    • Only the following account types can enable metadata: Business Plus, Enterprise, Elite
    • Users with the following account types can access a metadata template if the folder owner can enable this feature: Personal, Personal Pro, Starter, Business

Read and write access of existing templates will adhere to standard folder collaborator settings. New templates can only be added by users within an enterprise; external collaborators outside the enterprise will not be able to add new templates.

    Regards
