New Excel 2016 Autosave Feature - Office 365 + Box
As many others have probably noticed, the most recent version of Microsoft Excel 2016 (Version 1707, Build 8326.2076+) now includes a feature for "Autosave", apparent in the toolbar in the top left corner:
This new feature is described on Microsoft's website, but in summary, it's currently only available with files stored on OneDrive or Sharepoint.
1) Has this functionality been written by Microsoft to allow third-party cloud data storage providers (e.g. Box) to use this feature?
2) If yes, does Box have any plans to utilize this feature?

Real time collaboration using Microsoft's thick client desktop applications would be a great feature. Instead we're limited to using the Microsoft online, thin client, application if you want more than one contributor in a file at a time. The thin client has limitations to its functionality and all collaborators may not be aware of this limitation. Thus causing confusion with the lock functionality of Box.
Is this a development request for Box? Even files saved locally on the PC with Box Edit, do not allow auto-save. Do we think that box's limit of 100 file versions would prohibit this feature from ever being enabled?
