icons disappear Box drive, "Make available online only" not working after previously "make available offline"
Since upgrading box to the new file structure and my computer to Monterey, I can mark items for availability offline, but when I don't need them anymore and mark for "make available online only", the icon disappears and no icon comes back. More so, those files remain available even without network access, which means they're taking up valuable hard drive space despite marking them for online-only storage. The only resolution to reclaim space I've found is to logout and backin, which removes ALL of my previously "make available offline" items. This is hugely problematic for our workflow, please help!

Hi Kara,
Welcome to the Box Community! This would be something our Support team would like to investigate with you and may require specific account information. It seems you already have an open ticket for this issue with our support department, please continue working with them and check your email for updates. Thanks for your patience and please comeback and let us know how it goes. -
The quick answer is that logging out and back in clears out your storage. This is a terrible solution to regaining space. I keep hoping to see a fix to this when I see updates, but I have not yet seen any change. After weeks of waiting for a response from box, they finally told me it was an apple architecture thing and to tell apple I wanted to see a change. That was the end of the conversation. Good luck! Please let me know if you guys find a better solution.

I'm also looking for a solution to this problem. It seems we can no longer just access online-only. This makes watching video files highly problematic as I am then forced to download huge files to my hard. It defeats the advantages that come with having a cloud access only (i.e. online-only) option and not just a box sync. Claiming that this is the fault of Apple's architecture doesn't sound like a solution; I hope Box fixes this asap!

Same problem here. On OSX, this feature does NOT instantly un-download the content. This is not acceptable. Users need to have instant control over the downloaded content, and we cannot wait to restart or log out in order to get our space back.
Right-clicking on individual groups of files and selecting "Remove Download" works though! France This is something your engineers should think about. Apple's built-in iCloud feature has terminal commands that are supposed to take care of this:
brctl download [FilePathHere] brctl evict [FilePathHere]
However, these do not function in a Box directory. If your Box CLI has a way to manually allow users to do this, please share that information here! Would be best for "Make Available Online Only" to actually function as expected. Also, there is no way to know what folders have content that was downloaded. Your icons should indicate this in the folder structure so that we can see at a glance whether a folder contains content that was locally downloaded. Currently there is no such indicator, and users have to guess where content may be downloaded in the folder structure.
