Box app, can't sign in with google

when I'm on the web browser version there is a "sign in with google" option, on the app Mac version that option is not there. I've tried my gmail email and password and it does not work. 

how do I sign into the app now?

  Please follow the steps in this article to reset the password for your Box account and enter your email to receive a reset link from us:

  • https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044195593-Reset-My-Box-Account-Password 

  Once you've successfully reset your Box password, please use your email and new password to login to the Box app.

  Does this eliminate the ability to login with my google account in the future?
