We have released the ability to name files/folders based on variables that may change per workflow instance. Users can combine variable names with free-form text including prepending, appending or inline.
Supported variables will include the
- Name of the file/ folder being executed on in the workflow
- Name of the trigger file/folder
- Trigger Date
- Execution Date
- File Request metadata (for Relay workflows using the File Request trigger) - For Enterprise plans and above
This enables workflow creators to contextually name files/folders. For example:
- Making the current date part of the folder name (useful for timestamping)
- Using a folder name (e.g. name of a client) referenced in a previous step of the workflow as part of new name of a file
- Extract a metadata field (E.g. vendor name) from a File Request and use as part of the file name
