Creating new Hub
You can create a new Hub from the Hubs gallery view by clicking the New Hub button.
If you didn't create a Hub yet, you are greeted with a You don't have any Hubs yet message and a step-by-step tutorial about creating a Hub.
To create a Hub:
- Click the New Hub button or the Get Started button (if this is your first Hub),
- Fill in the Hub name and description.
- Add any files that you want. Refer to Adding Content to Box Hubs for more information.
- Save your changes.
- If you don't specify a Hub name, it is auto-populated with Untitled Hub [date and time].
- If you don't add any description, it is not auto-populated and is not visible on the published Hub.
- A Hub description can only have 2000 characters.
- You can only add files or folders owned by your enterprise to your Hub.
You can change both the name and description in the edit mode.
Logo and background image
You can add a logo and background images when you create your Hub, or later in the edit mode.
To add a logo or background image, click the pencil icon on the logo or background. Then select an image from the gallery or upload it from Box or from your device.
To delete a custom image, you need to first change the custom logo or background to another one. Then you need to click the pencil icon to open the gallery. Find your image in the gallery and click the X button on it. A pop-up message appears, asking you to confirm the image deletion.
If you delete the custom image, you won't be able to restore it, but you can add it again from Box or from your device.
For the logo, we recommend using a square image. For the background, we recommend choosing images with a 5:1 aspect ratio and minimum width of 1600 px.
Only images in jpg or png format and smaller than 5 MB are accepted.
Co-owner settings on a Hub level
As a co-owner you can edit the Hub settings both in the edit and view mode. To do so:
- Open the desired Hub.
- Click the ellipsis to open the More Options menu.
- Click Hub Settings.
The following options are available:
- Restrict collaboration to within your enterprise: on by default. To allow adding external collaborators, turn this option off.
- Control who can add or modify the collaborators.
- Control who can create or modify shared links.
- Manage Box AI features for this Hub.
You can’t enable shared links in Hub settings if:
- You’re an admin and you disabled shared links in the admin console for your enterprise.
- You're a Hub editor, but the Hub co-owner didn’t give you permissions to do that.
Embedding a Hub
To embed a Hub anywhere on your webpage or system:
- Open the Hub you want to embed.
- Click the ellipsis to open the More Options menu.
- Click Embed Hub.
- Select the size of the widget. Available options are:
- Small (330 x 400),
- Medium (500 x 400),
- Large (800 x 550),
- Custom.
- Copy the link and add it in the desired place.
Check the Hide Hubs Gallery option to prevent users from going to the Hubs Gallery in the widget.
To see the contents of the embedded Hub, you need to be invited to it or have access through the shared link. All user roles (Viewer, Editor, Co-Owner) can embed a Hub.
Deleting a Hub
To delete a Hub:
- Select the specific Hub from the Hub gallery.
- Click the More options menu.
- Select Delete Hub.
A pop-up message with the following information appears:
Are you sure you want to delete this Hub? The Hub will be deleted and users will lose access to some or all files in this Hub.
Confirm the Hub deletion by ticking the I acknowledge this action cannot be undone checkmark in the pop-up message.
You must be a Hub Co-Owner to delete a Hub. When you delete it, the source content from Box is not deleted.
