You can use our existing Box Copilot Connector to integrate with Microsoft 365 Copilot, starting in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft365.com, and copilot.microsoft.com. By enabling the Box Copilot Connector, you can provide your users with the ability to access and gain insights from their Box content through interactions with Microsoft Copilot.
As a Microsoft 365 admin, you can configure the Box Copilot Connector and Microsoft 365 Copilot to enable your Microsoft 365 account holders to ask questions and draw insights on Box content. To enable this integration, follow these two steps:
- Enable the Box Copilot Connector
- Enable Microsoft Copilot
Enabling the Box Copilot Connector
The Box Copilot Connector allows Box and Microsoft customers to index Box data so it appears in Microsoft 365 experiences. By enabling this integration, Microsoft 365 users can discover Box content from Microsoft Search, Microsoft 365 app, or Microsoft Copilot.
To enable the integration, please complete this form. Once you submit, someone from Box will reach out to you via email within 3 business days with the onboarding instructions.
Before completing the form, please review the following limitations:
- The connector currently does not index more than 200,000 files per Box EID.
- It will only index files that are in the user’s Favorites or Recents.
- Limit of users in an EID should be around 50,000.
- The tenant must be a valid Microsoft Tenant with an existing search quota, more information on search quota can be found here.
- Users must have matching email addresses (primary or alias) between Box and Microsoft Office.
If you do not meet the above criteria, please reach out to your account team who will be able to advise you on next steps.
Enabling Microsoft 365 Copilot
To enable Microsoft 365 Copilot, a valid license is required. You can learn more about how to enable and manage Microsoft 365 Copilot here.
Using Copilot with Box Content
Once the Box Copilot Connector has been enabled, you can start using Copilot to search across your indexed Box content. To know which content has been indexed, you can follow step 3 detailed in the deployment guide. You can then navigate to Copilot and start asking questions on your Box content. Copilot will search across all content in Microsoft 365, including content indexed via the Box Copilot Connector. Copilot can find files, summarize content or derive insights from files stored in Box.
Please note that this functionality is currently only available if Copilot is accessed from Microsoft Teams, Microsoft365.com, or copilot.microsoft.com.
