Adobe Express for Box

Adobe Express is a design, photo, and video tool that makes content creation easy. 

The Adobe Express for Box integration consists of:

  • the Edit Images with Adobe Express for Box integration, enabling you to edit images, and save those edits in Box, and
  • the Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box integration, enabling you to create AI-generated images based on text, and save those images to Box,

all without needing to download those files to your local device.

Images that you create, edit, and save with Adobe Express for Box are saved directy to a location in Box that you choose, and do not reside on the Adobe server.When using the Generate Image with Adobe Express integration, your text prompt and any files used to generate the image will be sent to and temporarily stored on secure Adobe servers.

For Box Admins

Adobe Licensing

  • Your enterprise does not need an Adobe license to use the Adobe Express for Box integration.  If your enterprise has an Adobe license, your enterprise's Box account holders are not added to your enterprise’s Adobe license.  To add people to your enterprise's Adobe account, you must add them manually in the Adobe admin panel.
  • To generate inages, your Box account holders must have and log into individual Adobe accounts.  Adobe provides a free trial that can be started as an individual Adobe account and that will not auto-convert to a paid license.

Enabling and Disabling the Image Editing Integration in your Organization

Box adds and enables the Edit Images in Adobe Express for Box integration by default.  If you're the Box admin of your organization, you can disable and later re-enable the integration.  

To disable or re-enable the image editing integration:

  1. In the left sidebar of your admin console, click Integrations. 
  2. At the top of the Integrations window, click Box Integrations & Clients.
  3. Scroll down to Individual Integration Controls, and find Edit Images with Adobe Express for Box.
  4. Beside Edit Images with Adobe Express for Box, click the state, then select the state you want to enable.
  5. Click Save.

Enabling and Disabling the Image Generation Integration in your Organization

The Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box integration is in the Available for all users state by default.  If you're the Box admin of your organization, you can disable the image generation integration.    

To disable or re-enable the image generation integration:

  1. In the left sidebar of your admin console, click Integrations. 
  2. At the top of the Integrations window, click Box Integrations & Clients.
  3. Scroll down to Individual Integration Controls, and find Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box.
  4. Beside Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box, click the state, then select the state you want to enable.
  5. Click Save.

Enabling Image Editing and Image Generation for Specific People or Groups your Organization

If you're the Box admin of your organization, and the Adobe Express for Box integration is enabled in your organization, you can enable the Edit Images with Adobe Express for Box and/or Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box integrations for specific Box account holders and specific groups in your organization. 

To enable the image editing and image generation integrations for specific Box account holders and specific groups:

  1. In the left sidebar of your admin console, click Integrations.
  2. At the top of the Integrations window, click Box Integrations & Clients.
  3. Scroll down to Individual Integration Controls, and find the integration you want to configure.
  4. See this article and configure who can access the integration.
  5. Click Save.

For Box Account Holders

Accessing the image editor

If you're a Box account holder, and your Box admin has enabled  Edit Images with Adobe Express for Box for your organization, you access  Edit Images with Adobe Express through your Box All Files window.

To edit images, you do not need an Adobe account.

To access Adobe Express for Box to edit images:

  1. In your Box All Files window, open an image or video file.  Box displays the file in Preview mode.
  2. In the top of the Preview window, click Open, then select Adobe Express.  Box displays the file in the Adobe Express window.

Accessing the image generator

If you're a Box account holder, and your Box admin has enabled   Generate Images with Adobe Express for Box for your organization and you have added the integration to your account through the Integration Catalogue, you access AI image generation through your Box All Files window.

Adobe Express uses AI to generate images based on text you provide.  To generate images, you must have an Adobe account, and must log into that account.  For free Adobe accounts, Adobe provides 25 free generative credits that renew each month.  

To access Adobe Express for Box to generate images:

  1. In your Box All Files window, in the top-right corner of the window click New+.
  2. In the drop-down window, click Image generated with AI.  If you're logged into your Adobe account, Box launches the Adobe Express image generation window.  Otherwise, Box launches the Adobe login window.
