Additional Control for Shared Links Access:

Admins will now have additional controls to help with shared link access and management. These controls allow admins to select whether shared link access for "people in your company" will be for users within your email domain or users within your enterprise ID. This control will be most helpful for large enterprises that are managing multiple Box enterprise IDs.

 

Current Shared Link Access Controls:

There are currently three possible options for how admins allow shared links to be accessed: 

  1. People with the link, people in your company, and people in this folder
  2. People in your company and people in this folder
  3. People in this folder

Shared link access for "People in your company" is based on the domain(s) that have been set for your admin console. However, for some of our largest enterprises, a single enterprise may have multiple enterprise ID (EIDs) that all use the same domain.

 

For these enterprises, Box will now provide admins with the option to specify whether a link shared with "People in your company" will be based on the company email domain or the company’s Box EID.  Within the Admin Console--> Enterprise Settings--> Content & Sharing tab:

Default Setting & Making Changes:
If you currently have "People in your company" as your shared link access policy, the default will continue to be company as defined by your set email domain(s).
 
However, if you would like to make any changes from this default and redefine your "People in your company" shared link access policy to be defined by your enterprise ID, we recommend working with Box Customer Success through this process. If there are any users outside of your enterprise ID that you would still like to give continued access to links that they previously had, these users will need to be collaborated into the files or folders as required.
