We've added another guardrail to our best-in-class secure external collaboration experience to ensure your enterprise is always in control of its key business content. Now, in the Content and Sharing section of Enterprise Settings you can proactively prevent ownership transfer of content from managed users (users you own) to external collaborators.
Once enabled, the following behaviors are restricted and will result in error messages:
- Managed and external users can not assign file ownership to an external user
- Managed and external users can not move files or folders to an externally owned folder
User activity is logged in Box's self-service reports (under user activity) for you to easily see who tries to transfer ownership to external users so you can take appropriate action. The admin activity to enable or disable this feature is also logged in the Box's self-service reports (under security logs).
Note: The admin activity is not yet available on events API. This is expected to be available in first half of 2019.
