We have added additional messaging to Admins in the Box for Slack application. Upon initial installation of the Box for Slack app in Slack, Admins will be automatically notified of their current Box application settings via email and Slack, and be provided with the option to configure and customize those application settings in their Box Admin Console.
Box for Slack Admin Settings include:
-
Enabling Document Thumbnails: This setting displays a thumbnail image of a file when a user adds a Box link in a channel or direct message.
-
Enabling Permission Check before showing file/folder name and file type: This setting requires all users to be authenticated into the Box for Slack integration and have permission to view/access a shared file/folder, in order to display the file/folder name and file type in a channel or direct message.
-
Enable Slack search indexing: This setting allows Slack to index and store text content from shared Box files. This provides more accurate search results for users when searching within the app. If left unchecked, Slack will only index and store the filename.
-
Allow listing Slack Enterprise Grid Orgs and/or Slack Workspaces: Only users from the specified Slack Enterprise Grid Org and/or Slack Workspaces will be able to access your Box Enterprise.
These settings can be customized in the Box Admin Console > Apps > Individual Application Controls > Box for Slack Configuration. For more information, please visit our Box for Slack community documentation.
