To help our customers maintain an organized and effective classification schema for their organization, we are introducing new admin capabilities to restrict or change classification of content. Enabling more consistent classification with these tools will help further prevent potential data leakage, mitigating risk of oversharing sensitive content and ensuring appropriate access controls are in place.
Classification is an essential part of how Box Shield helps organizations prevent data leaks. Along with communicating content sensitivity level through the classification label, our classifications carry Smart Access controls, watermarking options, and retention policies. While the application of classification labels can be automated using Shield’s Automated Classification feature, the content owner has always been able to modify labels on their content/folders.
These new controls will enable admins to:
-
Restrict the modification of classification labels to only admins and co-admins
-
Provide admins the ability to change classifications without being an owner of the content/folder.
-
(Coming soon) Enable admins to modify classifications through Content Manager
