    Hi Jordi,

    Welcome to the Box Community!

I understand you're looking to open a Folder's web or share a link into your Desktop app.

Unfortunately, this is not possible and the expected behavior is that the shared link will take users to the web app.

Thanks for your participation in the forum and let us know how else we can help!

    Best,

    Hi, thanks for replying.

that's a bummer.. I feel like it's something you guys should look into. Many of my coworkers had the same question I did.

    Well, thanks again.

If it was a Physical server in your office vs a cloud server you could...

    On a Mac
    • set up an Automator action.
Automator app—Service—select Copy to Clipboard, drag to window on right
(top 2 fields: "Files or folders" in "Finder"

Go to file and save as COPY FOLDER PATH

Now you can right click the file or folder and select COPY FOLDER PATH, and then paste it in an email or chat.

The receiver just needs to Shift + Command +G to open a search and paste the path, and it will take them to the spot on the server.

    Box issue/workaround:
Because its not a shared volume like an in-house server, the path will be /Users/YourName/Box/then the rest of the path.

The work around is the user receiving the link would just need to replace the senders name with their own (or whatever the user name is for the computer) and it will link to the location on the Box desktop app.

Has BOX been able to add this function? It would be very helpful. As it is, opening files in a browser sucks.

I talked with my Box rep again last month, and it looks like there is no way to do this yet.
