Retrieval of BOX Files from Resourced Employee Who Didnt't Transfer Before Leaving Company
An employee left IBM July 1,2020 and before he left he did not transfer his BOX files over to anyone. Now almost a year later, my department needs access to the files he scanned. I went through this in 2016 and 2018 when other employees who were "owners" of the file left the company without transferring their ownership. I was always able to have the files retrieved to a NEW owner along with a co-owner. Every other member had access as "editor" or "view". We are in desperate need of trying to restore these files? I always thought thee were stored on the Cloud and could be downloaded from the Cloud. Is that still able to be done? If not, for my own peace of mind, when did this proess change? I have argued with some people over this process that it "can be done" vs cannNOT be done. Is there a special ID from the departed person that can be used? Please advise. Thanksl

Typically, when an employee left an organization, that user's Box that is managed by the organization will be subject to the "Delete and transfer" process by the organization.
You might want to check with your Box Admin if the previous employee's Box was deleted with his contents or if his contents were transferred to someone else prior to his account deletion.
If they need help recovering the account, Product Support can recover a user up to 1 year with request by an admin/co-admin of the organization.

You can find the contact email of your Box Admin under your Account Settings > Account > *scroll down* to Account details.You may also contact your internal helpdesk to point you to the designated person assigned for your account for these request.

Hi again. I don't understand. All I am interested in finding out is if a deleted BOX account from John Mileo (at IBM) can be retrieved. He left the company a year ago July, and because we all have been working remote because of covid, nobody thought to check if these files were still there or not, Someone else in my department reached out to a support team by opening a ticket and they were told that the content is not retrievable after 180 days. Like I stated in my original request I am inquiring about pulling files from last July when he departed IBM and nobody thought to transfer the files to a new owner. The reason for my original email was to ask about a year's retention, because I remember hearing and seeing it could be done, You responded telling me that also, When you responded I did not understand the product support team function.
