Box Status

Box doesn't search into the files content

I have an issue with BOX that's no searching into the files contents; I'm using the right-click and "Search in this folder" BOX menu voice to search the content text inside the files.

I also tried to select "Make available off line" the entire folder, supposing this could help in searching with BOX search or at least windows search utility: also this didn't worked.

Am I the only one to have this issue?

    my version of BOX is the latest: v.2.20.136

    Hi Marco, 

    Welcome to the Box Community!

    At present, it is expected that Mac and Windows search tools ( Spotlight, Finder search, Cortana or File Explorer) do not return search results from Box Drive as its currently a known limitation. You can use Box Drive's search tool instead.

    Thank you for answering.

    I also tried to search using the Box Find utility, but still not able to find the file's contents. I tried many times, with some content I know that's inside a text file, but the Box Find doesn't find the file, do not return any result.

    That's a serious issue for me, I have to make a local copy and use the windows search instead

    Since I'm an internal IBM, I cannot open here a ticket for support, I should use internal support.......still searching for which internal contact to use...  :-)

    Hi,

    I am facing the same issue ever since our systems got upgraded to Windows 11 & Box Drive. Also, unable to contact Product Support or raise a ticket. Do please update if there is a solution to this problem.

    Searching with Box is horrible.  This is the most important feature for me, and it should work.  I am simply looking for a word within a document and Box only shows filenames with the word in the title -- no matter what settings I try to use.

    Windows File Explorer screwed up their search too -- it was a piece of cake to get the results you wanted 10-15 years ago.  There must be some legal reason that simple searching was made impossible.  Maybe Amazon or Facebook or China holds the software patent on the technology and refuses to license it.  Billions of dollars of GDP lost in productive time.

    Same issue here. I'm searching log files for a particular string. Tried partial, full and wildcard methods. I know the string is in a few files but the search result is blank. I am performing searches on the webUI. That's a big issue for me and seems like a reasonable ask. Any suggestions?
