Unable to set IMPROVED password after I signed-up using google account

  • For the benefit of all the others who are having same issue (since we signed up to Box.com using Google-OAuth).

    You'll get at least 3 emails from Support, but no real solution.

    I doubt this post will last too long, so .. save a copy.

    You can solve this yourself, as follows.  Do _Not_ follow box.com official links.

    1. Log out of Box.com
    2. On sign-in page, click on FORGOT Password.
    3. Check your Gmail inbox for link to _CHANGE_ your box.com password.
      (As of 2023-Q3 You'll definitely get such an email, even tho' you've Signed-Up via Google-OAuth).
    4. Set a REALLY-STRONG password (Do NOT use Safari's dash-based simpler passwords)
    5. You'll be them prompted to login into Box.
      Surprise! you'll be automatically logged in WITHOUT the password - using Google OAuth again!
    6. All done!  Go click on the folder you wanted to access!

    If another company wants an EVEN stronger password .. rinse and repeat the above!!!
