Microsoft Word app is grayed out- "People are currently collaborating on this file. You can join them by using Office Online"

I am not sure why I am unable to open the Microsoft Office Word app instead of the online version. I need to edit with track changes. 

I have the correct Box tools installed.

I'm not clear what this message is trying to say. Do I have to ask the other collaborators to exit in order to open the document in desktop Word?

  In order to help you address this issue, can you try the following?  

  • Is it working if you download the file locally and open it? 
  • Please try a different browser, machine or network connection. 
  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies. (https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043695214-How-Do-I-Clear-The-Cache-And-Cookies-In-My-Browser-)
  • Restart your machine.

  I do not want to download the file locally, as I need to collaborate with coworkers
