The folder view contains FILE UPDATED and SIZE. How to add 'ABSTRACT'

I was once able to add a custom column to the Folder view, I had called it ABSTRACT and I was able to add details about the file contents.  I can't figure you how to do this now.  I have to assume the feature had be deprecated.   How can I add a fourth column to the Folder view?
