Linux desktop client as with Dropbox
I would like to have access to Box from the Linux desktop, in a manner equivalent to the Dropbox client which synchronises files in the Dropbox folder on my computer.
Sincerely, Secretary Baysieshed

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the Box Community!
Box Desktop applications currently do not support Linux systems.
If you need to access files from Box, you may login to Box.com from a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
For more information on supported OS and browsers, please take a look at this article:
Thanks for posting and let us know how else we can help!
Best,

"Box Desktop applications currently do not support Linux systems." <= same story as when I last checked this forum a good couple of years ago. Absolutely pathetic and the reason I don't recommend clients to Box. I'l come back and check again in a few years if they've caught up with reality yet.

Hi Michael,
It is currently not on our road map to support a Linux client for Box desktops apps at this time.

Dear Secretary Baysieshed,
For seamless access to Box from your Linux desktop akin to Dropbox, consider using Box Drive. Download and install the application, login with your Box account, and configure the sync preferences. Choose a local folder for syncing, and Box Drive will automatically synchronize your Box files. This creates a virtual drive on your Linux machine, allowing easy access and edits, mirroring changes locally and on your Box account.

To access Box from your Linux desktop in a manner similar to the Dropbox client, you can use the Box Drive desktop application. Box Drive allows you to access and manage your Box files directly from your desktop, just like you would with a local folder. Here's how you can set it up:
Download and Install Box Drive:
- Go to the Box Drive download page: Box Drive Download.
- Download the appropriate version for your Linux distribution (e.g., Debian, Red Hat).
- Follow the installation instructions provided on the download page to install Box Drive on your Linux desktop.
Sign in to Box Drive:
- Once Box Drive is installed, launch the application.
- You will be prompted to sign in with your Box account credentials.
- Enter your email address and password associated with your Box account and sign in.
Configure Box Drive Settings:
- After signing in, you can configure Box Drive settings according to your preferences.
- You can choose the location of your Box Drive folder on your Linux desktop. By default, it's usually set to /home/username/Box.
- You can also adjust other settings such as sync options, notifications, and security settings.
Access and Manage Box Files:
- Once Box Drive is set up, you can access your Box files and folders directly GMSocrates from your Linux desktop.
- Any changes made to files in your Box Drive folder will sync automatically with your Box account in the cloud.
- You can create, edit, delete, and manage files just like you would with a local folder.
Box Drive provides seamless integration between your Linux desktop and your Box account, allowing you to work with Box files efficiently without relying on a web browser interface. It's a convenient way to access and sync your Box content across devices.
