Syncing Portable Drive
We back up all of our work files onto a portable drive connected to the computer. Whenever I try to set up a sync through the synchronization app I get an error message.
This was working when we downloaded and installed Box Sync but when we booted up the computer this morning Box automatically removed the Box Sync app?
Please tell us how we can accomplish this.

It is not advisable to use an external drive with Box Sync. Assuming that the external drive gets disconnected the potential issue that Box Sync would simply not be able to sync the files because they are not currently present. This looks like this is an expected behavior from a design perspective.
I suggest that you install Box Drive instead and is available for download here. https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044196753-Uninstalling-Box-Sync-Using-Box-Drive
When you launch Box Drive and log in, Drive prompts you to uninstall Box Sync.
