Not Able to Access Shared File via Box Link
After a file was shared with me via a Box link pasted into an email, I established a free Box account using the same email address on 7/21/22 and was not able to access that file--even after the owner sent me another link to the same file. I received a message that “This shared file or folder link has been removed or is unavailable to you.”

Hi Jeff,
Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!
This error message typically is caused by one of 3 things:- Incorrect sharing permissions on the shared file. In other words, whoever created the link did not set the correct access level on the link. If you are not already a collaborator in the folder (or file) the link points to, the link would need to be set to "people in the company" (if that person is also at your company) or "people with the link" (if that person is not part of your company).
- The person who created the shared link has since removed it.
- You are attempting to access the shared file with a personal Box account instead of the account with which the file was shared.
Here's what you can do:- Verify you are logging into Box with the account to which the file was shared.
- If that doesn't resolve the issue, contact the individual who owns the file. Ask them to review and revise the file share permissions which could be preventing your access to the file.
Thanks for reaching out and let us know how else we can help!

Thanks France,
Error cause #2 does not apply as the person who shared it also sent me a second link. As for error cause #3, I did not previously have an account with the
email address that was used, and that is why I registered for a free account using that same email address. As for error cause #1, the file was shared—
probably using "people with the link"--by a contractor with which we are working, and I think others in my organization were able to access the file on Box.Best Regards,
Jeff McGowan
