I think the question here is slightly different and I have the same question. When opening an Office file in Sharepoint, for instance, you can @ mention someone and they will get a notification. In the Online or Native version of Office using Box, that function is not available. Is there a trick for this or is simply a function which no longer exists?

Same question here. How can I tag another user in a comment inside of an Excel cell, when the file is stored on Box? When a file is stored on Microsoft Sharepoint, when I create a comment within Excel, I could hit "@", and a list of users would pop up and I could tag a specific person, and add a comment to that cell. That user would receive an email notification alerting them to the comment that they were tagged on. In Box, the list of users does not pop up within the comment. Is this something that can be enabled, or is this a function that Box does not support, or is this a short term Box bug? Thx

So I have found two nice (or at least we think so) workarounds for this. One is to continue with the same behavior - that is to say @ the person in the cell - and then just @ comment that person in Box Preview mode that there are pending comments. The user then needs to just go into Excel and search on their name (which searches comments) and they can jump from comment to comment. A lot of our users actually prefer this now as they only get one notification from Box Preview mode about multiple potential comments. The second method, which is more useful potentially for Word and PPoint, is to just use the markup tools in Box Preview mode. My users initially complained about not having the @ notification in Office but as we have transitioned mostly to Slack for comms, it is a non issue and most prefer the single notification.
