    Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

If you are unable to create or add new contents on the "All files" page of your Box, its likely you are part of an organization that restricts its managed users from creating first level contents and have the following restrictions enabled:

    Restrict content creation

Determines who can create and delete folders, files, and bookmarks at the root level of your Box instance. Select this option to prevent all non-admin managed users from creating, deleting, and moving folders in

You will need to reach out to your Box Admin team and they would have to invite you into folders created by Admins in order for you to create/ upload files in Box.

To learn more about this restriction, please take a look at this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404822772755-Enterprise-Settings-Content-Sharing-Tab#h_01FYSE8G5B3K7KB8CA2YRPEJ1G

Thanks for posting and let us know how else we can help!

    Regards,

It does not work with me too. I have been using box for at least 5 years and it never happened. I am the admin and owner so creating a folder shouldn't be any problems.

I am suddenly having this same problem on both my personal account and on accounts owned by clients where I am a co-owner and editor.

I have the same problem. It's my Box account, but I can't do anything with it. The "new" button is grey but I don't get any error messages - it just doesn't respond.

The solution outlined by France above is not valid because I am the ADMIN of our account and it's happening to me also. Someone at BOX please...for the love of god....

I have the same problem. Chat support didn't have an answer.  I'm the account owner and admin, and I don't have Restrict Content Crecreation checked.  What's the deal?

It just started all of a sudden. Not just at the root "All Files" level but every folder I have.

Damien, same here.  The button is greyed out at all levels.  It seems Box has a significant bug in its system.

One small update to this. My problem was in MacOS's Safari's browser. I opened up Box in Chrome, and did not have the same issue.

Same here. I use Safari on macOS 13.2.1 for work, which should be fully supported according to Box's requirement page https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696234-Understand-the-Box-Policy-For-Browser-And-OS-Support. I opened Box in Firefox and didn't have the problem. It's only in Safari.

I contacted support, and after a lengthy back and forth we isolated the problem.  It's a known issue Box is working to fix for macOS and Safari.

In the meantime, you can fix it by deleting the Box Edit folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Box/Box Edit.  Just delete the whole folder "Box Edit" and all its contents.  Then navigate here https://e3.boxcdn.net/box-installers/boxedit/mac/currentrelease/BoxToolsInstaller.dmg to install the latest Mac Box Tools again.  The button is no longer greyed out in Safari.
