A file has disappeared without a trace

I opened the file this morning and wanted to access it this afternoon but the file is suddenly gone. No record of it being deleted and no record of it in Box trash or my personal computer's trash. 
Where could it have gone? Any ways to resolve this? Is there another explanation for where it would be?

  Welcome to Box Community and glad to help! 

  If the file is not in your trash, can you check the Owner? If the affected file is collaborated with please contact the file owner. 

  And to better assist, I recommend to open a new ticket and have Product Support to look into this.
