how to recover 'ghosted' files

We transfered several files from one folder to another.  Thousands of files.

Some files are now shown in grey.  The folder indicates xx number of files in folder, but the list of files is in grey and the files cannot be opened.  So they are not really deleted, but are unavailable.

Hundreds of files cannot be opened. 

Can you help solve this problem pls ? Thanks
