Summary
The Box for iOS app is introducing the ability to @mention specific individuals in comments even if that person has been added to the file through a group and not individually. Previously, only people who were directly added to a file (or a folder which contains that file) could be @mentioned in comments. We’ve extended that to anyone who has collaborated access to the file.
The benefits of @mentioning are:
- You can communicate with an individual collaborator directly.
- You can give a specific collaborator context to a document.
- It shortens the turnaround time for your goals around a file or folder.
Sample Scenario Before Fix
Tim invites a group named people@CompanyA.com to access file F, and Bob is part of people@CompanyA.com. Tim wants to give Bob some additional information but doesn't wish to share that information with the entire group. But Tim is unable to @mention Bob in a comment on file F using the Box iOS app, even though Bob has access to that file.
