To install or upgrade to the latest version of Box for NetSuite, you need:
- A NetSuite Admin with SuiteApp Installation privileges; and
-
A Box Admin (or co-admin with the proper permissions) with the following:
- access to your company's Box Enterprise ID (EID)
- the ability to authorize integrations in the admin console
- access to the content manager
The following steps must be performed in order.
1. (Box Admin) Add Integration Credentials to Box for NetSuite
Note: Before the week of January 6, 2025, this step is mandatory. After this time, credentials will be automatically generated.
As the Box Admin:

In the Box Admin Console, in the left sidebar, navigate to Integrations.

Scroll down to the Individual Integration Controls, search for Box for NetSuite, then click Configure.

In Additional Configuration, expand + Add Integration Credentials.

Optionally re-name the Integration Credentials.
-
Click Save.

Expand the newly created section, then click Fetch Client Secret.
Note: Multi-Factor Authentication needs to be enabled to retrieve the Client Secret. To enable, follow the directions here.

This will send a 6-digit code to the Box Admin email address.

From your email, retrieve and copy the 2FA Authentication Code.

Return to the Box Admin console and paste the retrieved code in the Authentication Code field, then click Submit.

You should now see the Client ID and Client Secret populated. Note this information down, as you will need it in the following steps below.
- Continuing in Additional Configuration, scroll down and check the following:
- Read all files and folders stored in Box
- Read and write all files and folders stored in Box
- Manage app users
- Manage enterprise properties
- Make API calls using as-user header
- Generate user access tokens
- Click Save.
2. (Box Admin) Collaborate Box for NetSuite to integration folder
Note: Before the week of January 6, 2025, this step is mandatory. After this time, Box for NetSuite will be automatically collaborated to the NetSuite root folder.
As the Primary Box Admin:

In the Box Admin Console, in the left sidebar, navigate to Content.

In the Content Manager tab, find Box for NetSuite Credentials 1. (This may be in the Users folder.)

Right click on the user, then select Log in to user’s account.

Copy the user’s email address from the top of the page, and return to the Box Admin console.

Navigate to Content > Content Manager tab.

Search for owner of the NetSuite integration folder (e.g. Oracle NetSuite or the name of the service account), and expand the folder.

Click on the NetSuite root folder.

Click Invite People.
-
In Invite field, paste the email address of the Box for NetSuite user.

In Invitee Permissions, change the permission to Co-owner.
-
Click Send Invites.
3. (NetSuite Admin) Install or Upgrade to v3.X+
As the NetSuite Admin:
- Login to NetSuite.

In NetSuite, on the global dashboard, navigate to Customization > SuiteCloud Development > SuiteApp Marketplace.

In the search bar, search for Box and navigate to the Box for NetSuite listing.

Click Install or Upgrade.
-
Confirm the install or upgrade.
-
Wait for the installation or upgrade to complete.
-
When you see the “Installed” status, and the INSTALLED VERSION and LATEST VERSION labels match, the upgrade has completed successfully.
4. (NetSuite Admin) Connect Box for NetSuite Integration Credentials to NetSuite
As the NetSuite Admin:

In NetSuite, navigate to Setup > Custom > Box Client Credentials.

Enter your Enterprise ID, Client ID, and Client Secret from the Box Admin Console (the information noted from 1. (Box Admin) Add Integration Credentials to Box for NetSuite, step 8)
To find this information:-

In your Box Admin Console, navigate to the Integrations page in the left sidebar.

Scroll down to the Individual Integration Controls, and search for Box for NetSuite, then click Configure.

Scroll down and Note your Enterprise ID, Client ID and Client Secret.

Click Save.
5. (For Box for NetSuite V2 customers only) Migrate content from V2 to V3
Follow the directions to complete your migration: EXISTING CUSTOMERS: Migrating to v3 of the Box for Oracle NetSuite integration.
Note: As of 2019, Box for NetSuite V1 is no longer supported. Customers on V1 need to upgrade to the latest version to ensure continued functionality.
